SMR Program & SMR Vendor Participant Program

Canada’s nuclear industry has a critical role to play in the fight against climate change. With our utility expertise, a strong supply chain, and a track record of successful projects, our nation is in a strong position to continue our leadership in the development of advanced technologies, including small modular reactors.

Our members are taking an integrated and collaborative approach to design and licensing considerations, minimizing risk and reducing costs through partnerships between utilities and SMR vendors. Several provinces are now investigating SMR development to promote energy self-sufficiency and provide Canadian-made designs to the international market.

Conexus is supporting the drive for SMR hybrid applications to remote regions and heavy industry, transforming concept into action through our Small Modular Reactor Program.

Several provinces are now investigating SMR development, and Ontario Power Generation is leading the way as it advances deployment of the first SMR in North America.

Conexus’ SMR Program allows our members to leverage our trusted CANDU collaboration model to accelerate SMR deployment. An integrated and collaborative approach to design and licensing considerations minimizes risk and reduces costs through partnerships between utilities and SMR vendors.
